For several months, Bowie actively promoted his "Heroes" album. Here is a partial listing of his personal appearances.
Marc. Performed "Heroes" and joined in a jam session of 'Standing Next to You.' The show was filmed on Sept. 9 and aired on Sept. 28, 1977 on the BBC. To view additional scenes from this television show, see A Small Tribute to Marc Bolan on this web site.
L'Altra Domencia. Bowie did a short interview on French television on October 1, 1977.
Top of the Pops. "Heroes" video was aired on October 10, 1977 on the BBC=>
Odeon. "Heroes" and 'Sense of Doubt' videos were shown on British television on October 1, 1977.
Le Rendez-vous du Dimanche. Michael Drucker interviewed Bowie for French television on October 16, 1977.
Pop Shop. Bowie was interviewed by Vic Dennis on November 6, 1977 on Dutch television.
ABC's Good Morning America. David Hartman interviewed Bowie for approximately 5 minutes in November, 1977.
Midnight Special. "Heroes" video was aired in November, 1977.
Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas Show. Bowie sang "Heroes" and performed a duet with Bing Crosby. In the duet, Bowie sang 'Peace on Earth' while Crosby sang 'Little Drummer Boy.' The show was filmed on September 11, 1977 and aired on Christmas eve, December 24, 1977. A single of the duet was released in November, 1982.
Note: Bing Crosby died three weeks after filming the duet with Bowie.
During this time period (October/November), Bowie went on an african safari in Kenya.
Bowie also recorded/narrated 'Peter and the Wolf' in December, 1977.
Bowie promoted "Heroes" and his earlier album 'Low' in a concert tour in 1978. The concert also highlighted some of his earlier hits, many of them from his 'Ziggy Stardust' era. The tour started on March 29, 1978 in San Diego, California and ended in December 12, 1978 in Auckland, New Zealand.
The concert was recorded and released as a double-album set entitled Stage, and was released in September, 1978.
